I was surprised to find that my legs weren’t sore this morning. I thought for sure they would be in rough shape. I was in no hurry to get going, after a coffee at one place and breakfast at another I finally rolled out of town at 10:30. Back onto the cuota for another hot highway ride. This whole section is a rollercoaster. I struggled a bit with my energy levels, it felt like the sun was sucking it right out of me all day long. Between the heat, the sun, the headwinds, and the climbing I don’t think it will take too long to get back into shape – I felt like I melted away a few pounds today.

I hopped off the highway at Jala and got a cheap room at an hospedaje. The entire “staff” of the hospedaje is pregnant: the mother/soon to be grandmother, her two daughters, and even the dog. I imagine that it will be pretty strange for the grandchildren to have an aunt or uncle who is the same age as they are. I had a late lunch/early dinner of grilled steak, chilaquiles, and quesadillas at a place down the street.
