I slink out of my room early, feeling a bit worse for wear. Thankfully it's a beautiful, sunny day and I don't have to work too hard until afternoon. By then I'm in the Erzgebirge, the mountain range that straddles the border with the Czech Republic. The mountains aren't particularly high but the grades are vicious enough to make me feel queasy. I slog it out until late before finding a hotel in an picturesque little village called Breitenbrunn. An hour on the phone back to Berlin after a delicious dinner makes me temporarily forget the loneliness of the day's riding.
