I ride back up to the overlook and secure Greta in the parking lot. I tried to ride down the "rim road" last night but it's rough and I'm trying to knock off the off-road stuff, it's going to get me in trouble. I figure I'll just walk it. I pay for my lack of preparation: it's really not a very enjoyable hike (15+ miles worth), just hot and dusty with the occasional view of the canyon. I do get a few good looks at hawks though. I should have ridden down to the trailheads, the road gets much better after that initial rough spot I sampled last night.
Tomorrow is the eclipse, I figure I'll watch it from the Hell's Canyon overlook where I parked today.
