First day out on the bicycle for a significant ride, and I pick a hot one. In the 90's with 80% humidity. A bike path follows the Tamsui River from Taipei to the ocean, complete with parks, bridges, picnic areas, mangrove swamps, rice paddies, etcetera...; an enjoyable ride despite the serious sweating.
Surrounded by scooters at every traffic light.
Rainbow Bridge.
Painted on the massive concrete dyke that lines the Tamsui River.
Not sure what these machines are doing. Could be pumps.
The boats are colorful.
Bikepath traffic, Taiwan-style.
Amusement park.
Under the highway.
The egrets love to hang out in the rice paddies. There must be little fish in there.
Temple.
Paddle-boat.
I like it.
Ooh I bet there are some serious climbs to be had up there.
Mangrove swamp.
Fish scrum.
Tell me they aren't dying for some Cheerios.
No no no no!
I think that's fried squid on a stick. I didn't dare.
33 degrees celsius = 91 fahrenheit.
Mouth of the Tamsui River, where it flows into the Taiwan Strait. China is 200 kilometers away.
Working boat.
Tamsui "Lover's Bridge".
